Have you ever had someone say to you “don’t be nervous, just picture everyone is naked”?

Of course you have.

We have all had those moments in life when we are nervous. Sometimes it is because we are about to walk into a room with a panel of people prepared to judge every word that comes out of our mouths.

Sometimes it is an interview. Sometimes it is a presentation.

Sometimes we are about to embark on a journey and the next few moments of our lives will dictate what that might look like.

Or whether or not we are allowed to embark at all.

In my house, “everybody poops” has become a staple comment used anytime my husband knows my nerves are getting the best of me and it’s usually because I am about to confront someone or some challenge that is intimidating me.

It started out as a funny saying, but I have appreciated it’s greater meaning the more we find cause to use it.

Everybody poops.

At the end of the day, each and every one of us is human. We are all on a path of our own making and we have all encountered others or situations that have intimidated us.

There are times when that intimidation leads us not to step onto that path at all. This is when we have lost. This is when we have avoided the tough things in life and taken the path more worn and predictable.

Each time this happens, we do ourselves a disservice. We have cheated ourselves of the opportunity to see what we are capable of.

For one reason or another, we have allowed our fear of another’s opinion get in the way of feeling confident, of feeling worthy, of feeling READY.

We will never, ever, be ready for the next step in our lives if we allow this to happen. We cannot sit around waiting until the path has been made so clear before us that we are certain we will not trip or make a misstep.

We must remember that no matter who or what we are up against, nothing is more important than what has taken us to get to that point. Nothing is too big, and no one is too important to be faced head on.

We are all human. We are all doing the best we can. No one is better. No one is more worthy of your dreams than you are. We all make mistakes, it’s what we do afterwards that separates us from the pack.

Everybody poops…..time to get on with it.
